Myself,Rhyan and Steph did this with help from Simon. Callum had already varnished some of the flooring so it was a case of laying it. Under the panneling was gap big enough to fit a plywood underneath, in some places this was not the case, so the wall had to be slightly lifted by a crow bar and then put back done once plywood had been slipped underneath. 2 pieces of plywood fitted the width of the room, although a small amount needed to be cut off to get a perfect fit. The plywood also needed to be cut so it fitted around the doors.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">More plywood was needed than had been stained, unfortunatley there was not enough stain to cover the remaining boards. Myself and Rhyan went to Wickes to get more, while other members of the group continued with hanging pictures. By having a curve in the curtain and not having the curtain over the whole window, we managed to achieve this.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAIdX7GaLLc6fQiZ9WkEOw9tUxmVnV0HzzZK30boXpe8IIpgfpZKooYJAGlgHiNKykogSv_oS0F8mFMymLMdmUWQBRC1gTFr8CNdxmpJx_CnGPx0-_A6KZQZyLPg3FheAe9MqbdAAK4E/s1600/DSCF0648.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610789539138648386" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZAIdX7GaLLc6fQiZ9WkEOw9tUxmVnV0HzzZK30boXpe8IIpgfpZKooYJAGlgHiNKykogSv_oS0F8mFMymLMdmUWQBRC1gTFr8CNdxmpJx_CnGPx0-_A6KZQZyLPg3FheAe9MqbdAAK4E/s320/DSCF0648.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW83m6moQJiArstqxIKT6Z9uJwNhIrGp9ilAb2z5Sf0i2xmzfZGjkG46uUM_POvozQEX9aWIbPyjNNa0BbJcg6gWj3RusWn0wtzjHZgkUQjyYUaIUAK7Eb5Qjq6LixGoxK9rFeePEsYxI/s1600/DSCF0645.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610789523722448178" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiW83m6moQJiArstqxIKT6Z9uJwNhIrGp9ilAb2z5Sf0i2xmzfZGjkG46uUM_POvozQEX9aWIbPyjNNa0BbJcg6gWj3RusWn0wtzjHZgkUQjyYUaIUAK7Eb5Qjq6LixGoxK9rFeePEsYxI/s320/DSCF0645.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFuaDTeStx6BTM40ZQs5zFko6937KlLiPJA5fHB4LKezRI7Y4KN06E9bxQRmCtcMgNKGFA000_iDEQtvAEWnKrpf2872BAGpXpSSwn9pHnNgmqnBWpP53b-8dWKUGD9BCsHy3DIEQMcuM/s1600/DSCF0646.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610789529958641234" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFuaDTeStx6BTM40ZQs5zFko6937KlLiPJA5fHB4LKezRI7Y4KN06E9bxQRmCtcMgNKGFA000_iDEQtvAEWnKrpf2872BAGpXpSSwn9pHnNgmqnBWpP53b-8dWKUGD9BCsHy3DIEQMcuM/s320/DSCF0646.JPG" border="0" /></a></span></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-18072247075410847262011-05-26T11:34:00.000+01:002011-05-26T11:49:43.483+01:00Monday 23st May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">Today myself and Jenny finished the other 2 windows ( Drawing Room and Study) using the same process as Friday 19th May.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Once we had completed all the <a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGt-KdcBw7iC2l8GEcLG944GEiwLAV1cQ_pRY426NBlA75t7oLXbBO5z5_VbPRr8yYVuzp-T36MaQdrc60PrCnkcohGMaUxo1gEfxJomOwPC1fA850wX04IjzHsKFOVJxYOODJraopFg/s1600/DSCF0629.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610972712866099570" style="FLOAT: right; MARGIN: 0px 0px 10px 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiYGt-KdcBw7iC2l8GEcLG944GEiwLAV1cQ_pRY426NBlA75t7oLXbBO5z5_VbPRr8yYVuzp-T36MaQdrc60PrCnkcohGMaUxo1gEfxJomOwPC1fA850wX04IjzHsKFOVJxYOODJraopFg/s320/DSCF0629.JPG" border="0" /></a>windows, some area of the cross bars needed filling as some of the slots were cut to big. Everyone came into uni really early to get the final touches just right. Rhyan bought in the rugs from her dads house which we used in the Study and Drawing Room. Once the rugs were in place we were able to place the furniture in its final position. All the knick-knacks were placed on the cabinets, as we did not have enough to cover as much of the surfaces as we would have liked we borrowed some from group one. Fiona bought in a mirror to be hung and also real and fake flowers to be cut, put in vase's and placed around the Drawing Room.</span><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">To cut out the harsh lighting from outside and the view out the windows of the scenic room, we covered the backs of the windows with black material. The roof of the Study was also covered in this material.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">The floor then needed a good sweep and there were plenty of dusty foot, unfortunately we could not get all of these off.</span><br /></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">When the photographers arrived we were told about the equipment they had bought with them, how to set it up and health and safety. We discussed what we thought the lighting should look like in each room, we decided that the study should be dully lite, with a blue/white light to create the feeling of coldness. For the drawing room we decided that this should be in contrast to the study, being light and the feeling of warmth using orangey lighting.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We dicussed what would be the best way to light the rooms and we decided on through the windows as this would create the right shadows for natural light. We made the Drawing Room lighting as light as we could. As well as using 650watt lighting through each window we also used a duller light over the door and on the ceiling above the table.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">For the study we lit the room in the same way with just a 650watt light through the study window, as the light on its own was too bright, we used different materials to cover and bounce the light. This was a very timely process. an extra light was added next to the cabinent to create more shadow and contrast.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">The most important thing we learnt today was what looks perfectly lite to the eye will look completely different through a camera lense, so always look trough the camera while deciding on the right lighting.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">I really enjoyed this project, the work that everyone has put in and the quality of the end result is amazing. Im really proud of the end result and would love to do a project like this again.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">some pictures from the day:</span></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611173448731799682" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVEB3Ne3Js0F68nvUL9t3bmXoxdJBNwFpPOTp5IDn3fWpsJzRNzBvNEnheQBXWO7SZO7w-kSUUE4LJg8gsLfniq55kQ2OoAU104CtwWeGX9cAGGhkeZGarVoWj6KQo1p12IQWTHE0N-uY/s320/DSCF0676.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611173462123663090" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhstUZGgKDyWF58R0r4Cb7nDGJS9q3kkTKq0Cpl774Ie-XStFm3xALa91tUN-IlmD_nzYUjZpKUOAkX2ivo0yLpoPMStzrIe4mgNt1dj8Xj7HyGbWqJIcREcc2YcwB9PJGfG8e_RnNNRvw/s320/DSCF0674.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611173450544510146" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3cAlIlbtxvpCJ59N1rZHqT1WfN3cjXtkQNUWATbkpvQsEPZqwO3_yDHwQddAZPkgCoINgC3RZPaCoElS7WZaEVO7el0Z3pWRo3y398IJ1dCa5tle07eelOuKA6gbCmzNZ35ow11qEneM/s320/DSCF0670.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611173445048532898" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiDYhC_p2uPZ0fNWQ5k2I0j1149gDxx-lSWvSz_lajatkbklQuPaTpXV3HVknBnPk_X50TJXiGG7nFT6v1HYd6x7iztacMf93gK4ipdT1k5tGBrrUHsNDdMzEMfw3NHY7w35gsrAhhyphenhyphenZnI/s320/DSCF0678.JPG" border="0" /><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5611173434856468946" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh139w-PE2T22ZjUuU58GUyUHUlhWxtic-rH9w0fM3KH2CXJtbeJAEXbivaWQGDf_eX9ceZx_dpsphy4PT8vC8eza775xKerfMotFjENbZHetkp7IjYsYALQCuUtutIqYEPChlxaLbkYHA/s320/DSCF0679.JPG" border="0" /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div></div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-74064704615823124332011-05-25T22:55:00.000+01:002011-05-26T09:52:39.841+01:00Thursday 19th May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">Myself and Jenny started to measure up for the windows and cut out the wood ready for building.</span><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We began by measuring the gap for the windows using a tape measure ( 3foot by 5 foot)We took these measurements and marked them out on pieces of softwood.</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We then cut the pieces of wood out using a mitre saw wearing correct PPE ( overalls, stealcapped boots and long hair tied back) Once all the wood was cut out we started on the window near the doors. ( as shown by the diagram)</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">First we cut the blocks of wood and drilled 2 pilot holes, we did this to ensure that the wood wouldnt split when screwing together. While Jenny held the blocks I screwed them into place using a power drill. We repeated this for the top. We had to take the top brace off so we could screw the blocks on safely and securely.</span></div><br /><div><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">As this was a timely process Abbie and Nikki M started on the second window in the drawing room screwing the vertical pieces of softwood in place. They had a few problems with getting the screws at the top into the wood.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Once Jenny and I had finished the first window frame we went to attach the bottom and top pieces of wood on the window Abbie and Nikki M had started. Unlike the first window, the gap was too big for the pieces of wood we had cut. After measuring we became to realise that not all the gaps for the windows were the same width.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We re-measured and cut more wood to fit the gap. While we were doing this Abbie and Nikki M started the vertical frames in the study.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We then repeated the process for the top and bottom frames on all three windows.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">If I was to do this again I would not rely on agreed measurements for the windows or just the measurements of one window, I would measure them all before starting.</span><br /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:courier new;">While myself and Jenny began on the windows Ryhan began to Brade the loveseat, using gold brading and a hot glue gun.</span></div><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /></div><br /><div><br /></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinVbJUcRaRgz0-vXiKQM81WDEeSQU9D4iVsP3JEq5Hy9uUv2pKf_0C-_ffwU0fREPRhjjHOf-r6TcqkgACLkGZWsRif4jPdA07D_RfnyF117rbD_NMerbewKRK3MV_n2sRwYXPQVpD5fA/s1600/sofa11.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610944417690817682" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEinVbJUcRaRgz0-vXiKQM81WDEeSQU9D4iVsP3JEq5Hy9uUv2pKf_0C-_ffwU0fREPRhjjHOf-r6TcqkgACLkGZWsRif4jPdA07D_RfnyF117rbD_NMerbewKRK3MV_n2sRwYXPQVpD5fA/s320/sofa11.jpg" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVfLzh6ZyA_BOQUABKo5T9K3a0qG5yRoI-UHYTDk2710UgS6itx0hqXrLkYo1wNmw6UsAQbnKgZtv3RKEiTMBTnhM7GPUWD2vV4OZWm5ZZeR4zSRgsOMuA7iFoKB5k8jxkvkrcIb3cK38/s1600/sofa10.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610944414441177378" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVfLzh6ZyA_BOQUABKo5T9K3a0qG5yRoI-UHYTDk2710UgS6itx0hqXrLkYo1wNmw6UsAQbnKgZtv3RKEiTMBTnhM7GPUWD2vV4OZWm5ZZeR4zSRgsOMuA7iFoKB5k8jxkvkrcIb3cK38/s320/sofa10.jpg" border="0" /></a></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;">The cushion we used were previosly made by Abbie.</span></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-56408031242552525452011-05-25T22:26:00.000+01:002011-05-25T22:54:53.634+01:00Wednesday 18th May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">We hit a bit of a problem when finishing the upholstering of the loveseat. 3m's of fabric was needed in order to finished, but we only had 2.4m's. Luckly the fabric was longer than the sofa, so it was possible for us to cut the bottom off and use that as the extra fabric we needed.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We decided that the best way to do this would be to have 4 pannels on the back of the seat, using the cut off at the bottom as the back panels. We cut this 2foot piece of fabric in half and lined the first one with one side of the hardboard marking the center of the back of the sofa. We stappled this at the top just under the plastic tubing first. Then we stappled down one side, hemming a small part of the fabric and stappling in place. We then repeated this on the other half of the material.<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqPHLRvD9Lzk1Xa_VRcOM3mp-rqrSPAgjWLENYQxmZUT1BEIwyMvKYs5wuEaHFh0T9UBPW_z55BgYY_0bXXJMZIxt9ElXaAXXqsbIHS6QuZpj-FUM8GhtyKiQDQdhqnbWE-mwd5A51eM/s1600/sofa8.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610772725084996930" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjrqPHLRvD9Lzk1Xa_VRcOM3mp-rqrSPAgjWLENYQxmZUT1BEIwyMvKYs5wuEaHFh0T9UBPW_z55BgYY_0bXXJMZIxt9ElXaAXXqsbIHS6QuZpj-FUM8GhtyKiQDQdhqnbWE-mwd5A51eM/s320/sofa8.bmp" border="0" /></a></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;">Once these were done we attached the 2 side panels. We did this by first attaching fabric to the from of the arm and wrapping round untill it meets one of the back panels. this piece of fabric was also stappled just under the plastic tubing and hemmed to create a neat seam.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">To finish we pulled all the excess material under the loveseat and stappled to the hardwood. So we decided to cut the piece's of foam to fit inbetween the four upright sections to the back of the seat. To secure the foam to the back of the love seat we folded the foam round the plastic piping and stappled in place. Trimming and over hang.</span> </div><br /><div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKE8j0cqtJ0u1BEl55h5WdaZ4QfBL2MmyP-YDEFRXxW0NhmWTQkrVJLcGkitVZonfxYvtmypn_MhpsrW2fQrl52_S_6g_Q26bzRjT7qCDXVDW4gCISyHT3K2hFV-aFHDVLIf655unwTKo/s1600/loveseat.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610756957678395474" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjKE8j0cqtJ0u1BEl55h5WdaZ4QfBL2MmyP-YDEFRXxW0NhmWTQkrVJLcGkitVZonfxYvtmypn_MhpsrW2fQrl52_S_6g_Q26bzRjT7qCDXVDW4gCISyHT3K2hFV-aFHDVLIf655unwTKo/s320/loveseat.bmp" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN_wAf6qGG_YSOdfUpnyYZ0wpkJvLv8b5OWydHnuMpCPijMpDDdjfJ6CALHBhkSCCEDMaWSrkEyTAVmuP6Hczuanwdjx2TJ99dj3J-Xw4xNVgy4SpvwOVP3rEEHnBG7QgSCopQRQWCYeU/s1600/loveseat2.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610756954314862626" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN_wAf6qGG_YSOdfUpnyYZ0wpkJvLv8b5OWydHnuMpCPijMpDDdjfJ6CALHBhkSCCEDMaWSrkEyTAVmuP6Hczuanwdjx2TJ99dj3J-Xw4xNVgy4SpvwOVP3rEEHnBG7QgSCopQRQWCYeU/s320/loveseat2.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><span style="font-family:courier new;">When all th tops of the foam had been stappled we decided that the back of the love seat wasnt 'full' enough. We stappled to foam to the shape of the chair that we had created with foam previously. We then pulled the fabric so it was tight, wrapped it round the top of the love seat and stapled it to plastic tubing. This proved difficult as if not enough pressure was applyed the staple would only secure to foam and would fall out. We stappled this all the way the top of the love seat.</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">At the arms of the chairs we were a little stuck on how to attach the fabric with out it looking badly done, so we tried a few things out and decided on a pleat.</span><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEQEj6n4r38LpqDI4CxoAXjSXROrPN_l3072_sYs6wlvrFMtH4BJwN7EqDnQAOZkcSqje3eceDLj8uG4oxZxxjfdlaWoE1_V6AwJqkDIS0Zxk21XVQ_4w-BfndqVbdbnZ3lZMXASzX260/s1600/sofa6.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610765718522613522" style="WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgEQEj6n4r38LpqDI4CxoAXjSXROrPN_l3072_sYs6wlvrFMtH4BJwN7EqDnQAOZkcSqje3eceDLj8uG4oxZxxjfdlaWoE1_V6AwJqkDIS0Zxk21XVQ_4w-BfndqVbdbnZ3lZMXASzX260/s320/sofa6.bmp" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgupqXLLZMkVKt4mHJ8vE_yWtSm2yz7vWFPXZHZ1wNuaK0k2Uv9RT2rEtuXiVaFv3LXASmtS6ydkAevFc262lYzhKjFGP7b0mKOp-vdWiaRz6b64siCyEMPXo04WtgXyltQWQJJL1JXYfc/s1600/sofa5.bmp"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610765715035381138" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgupqXLLZMkVKt4mHJ8vE_yWtSm2yz7vWFPXZHZ1wNuaK0k2Uv9RT2rEtuXiVaFv3LXASmtS6ydkAevFc262lYzhKjFGP7b0mKOp-vdWiaRz6b64siCyEMPXo04WtgXyltQWQJJL1JXYfc/s320/sofa5.bmp" border="0" /></a><br /><span style="font-family:courier new;">Once we had done this to both arms, we realised that we did have any foam or fabric at the front of the chair, as this was not being cover by the seat cushion we stappled a small piece of foam and cover in fabric, attaching it underneath the seat and ontop under where the cushion will be.</span></div></div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We then went round and trimmed all the uneven edges to give a neater finish. Myself and Jenny continued in the Drawing Room where Ryhan finished in the Study. We did this using the same process as before.</span><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Unfortunately we didnt manage to get the whole room completed, cornors and round the door frame remained to be done for Tuesday.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Although the wall paper wasnt completely finished, the stencil design and the idea of the lining paper being painted worked really well, with the right color and pattern for the time period, which we would not have found if buying pre-designed wall paper. Im pleased with the result. <img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610751939004710834" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8UIjgCz2RG2fAXvkk9et8kcp3rlGb3RRW9lLLMWpRn2oURdYXjPJmGoAOrzFU3yicxfEtUwTGX65w1KIk9nobZ4jJJ5TiKc_8mwNBg7NN7LWIN2UKDq5zwt3hRN5JjIhX6-f_1LqxpO8/s320/pink.jpg" border="0" /></span></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-73750518620394848942011-05-25T20:24:00.000+01:002011-05-25T20:44:39.002+01:00Friday 13th May 2011<span style="font-family:Courier New;">The stencilling in the Drawing was still unfinished, but as a change we decided to start stenciling in the Study. We did this because we didnt want to get bored or tired of doing the same pattern over and over again so we thought that changing rooms would prevent this.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">As Ryhan's stencil for the Study was designed to all join up, not much discussion was needed on deciding where to place the stencil. We started in the right hand cornor next to the window and made our way around the room anti-clockwise.</span></div><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">For this design we used the same process as we did in the Drawing room, using the lighter green as the stencil colour applying with a sponge and dabbing the darker green over the top with another sponge. This stencil was quicker to apply to the walls than the stencil for the Drawing Room, however there were a few downsides to this stencil, it also broke like the Drawing Room stencil and needed cleaning often, but this was easily fixed. A more major downside was joining the stencil accurately as if this was not done the stencil began to look wonky and uneven.</span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610741068358658178" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8RGjqfOHlhdDMrAN6Yxtsv7VIXu6YgbXmZU_6jMSUY9vrtEFzp4eVZ1Bsw_3L6NRfF-adFj7QMg0kn_MAHq6cNFVv23gXDsdLzetgfbii22_VCoQN9VJwMe-LtkJ91P1f7wWLKm_Dmdk/s320/stenciling4.jpg" border="0" /></span></div></div></div></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610741065843438978" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKq19yNjJi0u4Kraru9k33TvBrjtJRIRAMqfpXvkabgFkbi-4kPPMeZwdBaLbCBC7jSx1HoIdAR72DWo5E8cPfsx8A1KAJcF90Mxd-V7K3U7xTR-69qx_hpj4PJMpk-Cz6oG-NWxAjxUw/s320/stenciling2.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610741059751085394" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjYeOmSLkutAdZYGTKlUwgbmfkStZDdw4eDDF_4_LwYT_LxhFxbLPOcaKc8KJIkTUnd0My_g_ZPwbghui_BZBDH8Qfs5tMXqERuLk0OpGt6T29x3svAPVQHgFGrnz9n1YUiPdh6Bs3WuRI/s320/stenciling.bmp" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610741078126814642" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgSp923o6XA4kaYLhfsyqk7cyWoS5czh-dOVM3PCAwzaLc9h6aUGmKP5zqQtHTJfAlSRLBdnwyqD0BAZ-FncQ7DgOcSvpj4nkw2IADq_6lHboeaJOetI4Om81FQYWqQGV792GHk4fNYhYo/s320/stenciling3.jpg" border="0" />vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-50820341704273740722011-05-22T15:41:00.000+01:002011-05-22T15:56:05.187+01:00Window Measurements<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyfPJfT6rwTli5itZZUAOdkEwqD5B4A3zrcPBe490pn-0lOdQjxjiEMoPPXfKY5lhPcdlbZ8-SX59880F5yr5reAdjlgbTwBfUVXSeVGj_52VtOnrrYMf8ocZs2yK9KpM9lDlt7U4rXxw/s1600/img012.jpg"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609553510440853826" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 206px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyfPJfT6rwTli5itZZUAOdkEwqD5B4A3zrcPBe490pn-0lOdQjxjiEMoPPXfKY5lhPcdlbZ8-SX59880F5yr5reAdjlgbTwBfUVXSeVGj_52VtOnrrYMf8ocZs2yK9KpM9lDlt7U4rXxw/s320/img012.jpg" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:courier new;">Width: 3 Foot</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Height: 5 Foot</span><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">As a group it was decided that the walls are going to be perceived to be bigger than they actually are. But as there were alot a few of us helped out with the tracing of the design and painting.</span><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Fiona had already created/designed the images to be drawn on the tiles. So we helped trace them onto the tiles, each of us doing a different part and passing the tile along for the next person to trace the next stage. All the tiles also needed to be painted, so again we helped with these. We painted over the design with blue paint, us 'helpers' painted the design on the cornors and the circle in the middle, as fiona wanted to paint the more detailed design herself.</span></div><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiltMSAV1DrP2H9GPhou4ATlhoIuSeZMmnsTX5SHrErYogOv5vJNMC9bElXmcMf69PtG0H4vcuHJ3mB7DcGC9Ov58hmy2cBZuBOBhJWX0uCwCS7TljU4PM3hQQVdCdcKHveykIMkGXHa90/s1600/DSCF0571.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609134947979874274" style="WIDTH: 296px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 234px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiltMSAV1DrP2H9GPhou4ATlhoIuSeZMmnsTX5SHrErYogOv5vJNMC9bElXmcMf69PtG0H4vcuHJ3mB7DcGC9Ov58hmy2cBZuBOBhJWX0uCwCS7TljU4PM3hQQVdCdcKHveykIMkGXHa90/s320/DSCF0571.JPG" border="0" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiBhjJSJFSQ8l0tVHhFSpiPTmKPzsduKKePE4R5yC8fG7E3_vpnQXGi_l4H3EBv2sLWiCUfsMwinIXTbbU0zz7CtqwPHxF64uEUtTayC5qWqBxdatyyzo_VjXlOkBTcYANQv4steqEoS8/s1600/DSCF0572.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609134940391386530" style="WIDTH: 286px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 234px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgiBhjJSJFSQ8l0tVHhFSpiPTmKPzsduKKePE4R5yC8fG7E3_vpnQXGi_l4H3EBv2sLWiCUfsMwinIXTbbU0zz7CtqwPHxF64uEUtTayC5qWqBxdatyyzo_VjXlOkBTcYANQv4steqEoS8/s320/DSCF0572.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT6Z1_dnfQxn6whhmmmJp-YKPEPpyqXGrOT3nqFwz7iLlMl9GdEo-yEuknf6Q26puAA5Opstng6jrBLEbWzTHYrqa1i_E4wf0m3AFdDZer7468ezE-cWriRb5DKuIqN02GizrqvyUqwHY/s1600/DSCF0567.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5609134945922010754" style="WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiT6Z1_dnfQxn6whhmmmJp-YKPEPpyqXGrOT3nqFwz7iLlMl9GdEo-yEuknf6Q26puAA5Opstng6jrBLEbWzTHYrqa1i_E4wf0m3AFdDZer7468ezE-cWriRb5DKuIqN02GizrqvyUqwHY/s320/DSCF0567.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-28464532783625301692011-05-20T14:32:00.000+01:002011-05-25T20:23:10.668+01:00Routering Research<span style="font-family:courier new;">The paneling in the Drawing Room and Study are both being routered.</span><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">I found a book while at home called Router Handbook and thought it might come in handy when routering paneling and possibly window frames.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><em><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Router Handbook by Patrick Spielman. As Jenny's stencil was all so too big for the acetate, half the stencil was cut out and the stencil could be rotated to create the top/bottom half of the stencil.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><div><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">We stuck the acetate stencil to the wall using masking tape, we decided that we would use the line in which the wall paper had left down the wall as a center mark for the stencil. We also decided that the positioning for the next stencil would be inbetween the lines that the wall paper had created, matching the top of the first stencil with the middle of the new stencil</span><span style="font-family:Courier New;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610730034659460578" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcU0dMCJxDr_SwofilMNSTK_0yvwgES2C-zwzoOC9rNhk4mnO78X8qxPPpc9ntVyxCm1ra5rHVZb2rss44olbIC-zgw_bVIFzSWeBA9Soao8sVryT5yIqCUNx6BIdvH1JJZ227Q9kFGNg/s320/DSCF0576.JPG" border="0" /></span></div></div><br /><br /><br /><p></p><br /><p><span style="font-family:courier new;">To paint the stencils we used a sponge dipped lightly into the dark pink paint. We used a dabbing technique instead of painting it on, this made the stenciling look more realistic to real patterned wall paper. Using a different sponge we used the lighter pink to dab over the top of the darker stenciled pink, we did this to give the wall paper a slightly textured look, this also helped dull down the harhness of the darker pink.</span></p><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">I think this technique worked really well and gave the wall paper a more realistic look.</span></p><br /><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Although the acetate was very effective, it broke easily as some parts of the stencil were very thin, we managed to fix the broken parts with cellotape. But as the stencil broke more we decided that it would be more time effective to cut out a new stencil.</span><span style="font-family:Courier New;">The stencil also needed cleaning often as the build up of paint would stretch the acetate and make it sticky.</span></p><br /><br /><p><span style="font-family:courier new;">For the cornors, the stencil was too big to fit, so Ryhan made another stencil which was half the size of the original. This worked well but was very time consuming as the stencil need to be washed often as the stencil as needed to be flipped over in order to create the design.<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610733675489211986" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh15LZPP8wJS_192FB9vSwOWHdM-4-YoD87cGoOF8j12aAlgiV2l3WnrkAoVs-c82M7rej9CJMzoe_LtSGjV4IyY5rktyt58cxDHFyprbdvJf-et8rVo_Xl6IUx3CMgxt465JnWjgASs0k/s320/DSCF0578.JPG" border="0" /></span></p></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610734251052361810" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAovTCrpNDVX6JQr0ohrWU7DRnxZM3OoxFkPg1QmhwDkAmaIxIQn078n0cKksCOjDD4F-NSVvWEy4dbxxV2UDfnIJfO6enHNv9MMYB0d_xOEulbGaNyJ6SUuP7nGk-JmiNRo9P-remIqA/s320/DSCF0577.JPG" border="0" />vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-34474379627032337022011-05-15T19:25:00.000+01:002011-05-25T20:19:04.974+01:00Wednesday 11th May 2011<span style="font-family:Courier New;">Today we started to paint the Drawing Room in pashmina (the light pink bass colour)As the rollers used on the previous day were still running green despite being washed, we went to Wickes to buy new ones. While this was drying Ryhan and Jenny continued with their stencils. Ryhan was unsure if the material she was using was suitable, so we tested it on a scrape piece of lining paper Unfortunately when tested the paint bleed underneath the material. It was decided that acetate was a better option. As the acetate sold in the Uni shop was only A3 Ryhans stencil to be used in the Study had to be made in quaters.</span><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;">For the cornors and just above the panneling (were the roller either wouldnt fit or didnt want to go over the line of paneling) we used a paint brush to paint the hard to reach areas.</span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610725277950218930" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgKhR9UI8CjmVcfeqGk_Y5QRes6IVkka-Q3TvDBvIzbmU-zq_BQZp6s3kQDrhicUpvpezALaAJ5mCkJ4_7tEzAdhuRA_enYJtF4jsYlpqWrfGuoUur9lS38LaneK6ZYiji1N4mMyo4aNeg/s320/painting2.jpg" border="0" /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610724443740678690" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj0zDOxodR2UfLfzdbbT2oHXnBUeRF7bqT9mcsSHotCve7nSZOPE5JNIcTBccLZyQnJVjCDWy5MtY-59LXPS-lxs1Z4BFudLjItFwiFPGJ9NHgzTHkpa2F0zxN0xQZZ90r2ISdS7_kgjbk/s320/painting.bmp" border="0" /></span></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-55412289914192729942011-05-15T19:14:00.000+01:002011-05-25T20:18:23.655+01:00Tuesday 10th May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">In the morning I helped Fiona paint tiles (see previous post), Jennny and Ryhan went and bought paint for both Study and Drawing Room.<br /><br />In the afternoon myself,Jenny and Ryhan started painting the lining paper in the Study, we painted a dark green (Tuscon Glade1)bass colour on the walls (this is to be stencilled over at a later date)The three of us painted from paneling to ceiling using rollers. I think the colouring of the paint worked really well with the brown of the paneling.<br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610719258789814274" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhCu8auGaueTAb3IiAHUedRTtgV9qm10pZz4GVN2-mQMURTo4609X-y2PHjTflmNV4aoNtFtB1hg67Imj8NB3eeB8hHj6YFciCAYZqiriv9QuLTTmt5oPWYElwrzLGmzF352v2Nc5HK6b8/s320/Photo0352.jpg" border="0" /></span>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-44176094754601230802011-05-15T18:25:00.000+01:002011-05-25T20:17:46.728+01:00Monday 9th May<span style="font-family:Courier New;">On Monday myself, Ryhan and Jenny finished wall papering as on friday we fnished the Drawing Room we started on the Study using the same process as the Drawing Room. Monday afternoon, myself, Rhyan, Jenny and Kirby disccused the colour schemes for each room. We decided on Dark Green called Tuscon Glade 1 for the bass colour in the Study and light green called Jungle Fever 2 for the Stencilling. For the Drawing Room we chose, light pink called Pashmina for the bass colour and dark pink called Candy Love 4 for the stencilling.</span><br /><br /><br /><div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;">The colour swatches we used were delux but when buying the paint we would look for a cheaper alternative.</span></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5610717187606593602" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 234px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhyMPZZ58_iIuO0mQHfAL0Pf8SS5M81IdeMAaNm8W5BJlZYl42Y5IDfXtJd2HNmKEgFHIVylL4TidVW2MbPf08WK2fcnVJvKeVMvzDqhSCzWxUKgfIO1rl2IuhsUv8tqNvaSJJ1FY56dWs/s320/swatches.jpg" border="0" /><br /><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;"><br /><br /><br /><div><br />Jenny and Ryhan were originally given the job of wall papering,so they chose the patterns for the stencils, they also cut the stencils out. On Tuesday 10th May it was decided that we would do the wall papering as a three (myself Ryhan and Jenny) as myself and Ryhan were paired for the love seat and myself and Jenny were partnered to do the windows, so we desided to do all of these jobs as a three.</span></div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-40537816921323512732011-05-15T14:59:00.000+01:002011-05-15T15:14:43.058+01:00Friday 6th May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">On Friday we began to wallpaper, while the brackets made earlier in the week, were being attached to the back of the flats. Myself, Rhyan and Jenny mixed a weak solution of wallpaper paste and applied it straight the walls. We did this because if we applied the wallpeper straight onto the walls, the walls would have absorbed all the moisture out of the paste and the wallpaper would fall off the walls. We left this to soak in for a couple of hours. </span><br /><div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5606945290798407202" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHnF3ciRtvETZKbPsdTWpEfqPuH8ACHKL1lX55IGynOwXPWxbe6E7EyMbMB8BrefXhrw0aju_e68QUYio145WYXrkmaY6we6csd5YJaN_piq-W8CtINOXT5fnhp65ONwIYimd1TZeitXU/s320/wallpapering.bmp" border="0" /> <br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span></div><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span></div><br /><div><span style="font-family:courier new;">In the afternoon we used a plumbline to draw a straight line down one wall in each room. We cut the wallpaper one foot longer than it needed to be. 5 foot was needed so we cut at lengths of about 6 foot. Two people helped paste the wallpaper while myself, Jenny nd Ryhan hung the paper. One person stood on the platform and holding and matching the top of the paper to the line drawn before. The person standing on the floor matched the paper at the bottom. We used a dry sponge to smooth down the wallpaper and a wet sponge to wipe away excess paste. Where the paper overlapped the panneling at the bottom it was cut off.</span></div><br /><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5606945967167083954" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 240px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiEKPZvaBmiPQwaabUhxDqx7dMrk9n9pyzpfSvut8kvnkV_KUw_5YSxe3g2FJJzcZHBWfD0_Vd1Xwf-1deiJ92HBUY6tWcqideZwBn1Qnj7doyHHPY0goZMt3kab6JTQNtwRQbBhn1LNpc/s320/wallpaper.bmp" border="0" /><br /><br /><div><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span></div><br /><br /><br /><div></div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-33953224630024501482011-05-15T14:43:00.000+01:002011-05-15T14:59:29.134+01:00Thursday 5th May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">When the Drawing room walls were put together we noticed that they were floating a few cm's from the ground. So we unscrewed the walls and placed a piece of MDF underneath and rebuilt the walls to make sure they were straight, However the walls still floated, but not as much.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Myself, Ryhan, Jenny and Chloe went to buy wallpaper. We also looked at alternatives to painting the flooring, as this could be a timing issue. Unfortunately the quotes we recieved were too expensive. The flooring we looked at was snap in flooring and lino. We also found small self adhesive tile lino flooring in the pound shop, but as a group we decided that this was not the best and cost affective option.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">The wallpaper we decided on was linning paper. A plain wallpaper which can be painted any colour. We decided that buying linning paper and painting and stencilling onto would be the cheapest way to get look we wanted.</span>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-70833651460143927312011-05-15T13:58:00.000+01:002011-05-15T14:42:50.567+01:00Tuesday 3rd May 2011<span style="font-family:courier new;">Henry Jones showed us how to put the flats together. We began at one cornor, two people worked on the flat side holding the flats in place and making sure the edges were flush, using a spirit level to make you the flats were straight. Two people also worked on the other side of the flats, one person helped hold the flats firm while the other screwed them together at 2 foot intervals, starting at the bottom and working up. More people were needed to help as more flats we being added. This job still didnt reguire the whole group, mainly because the more people would just be in the way. So myself, Kirby and Jenny were taught to make brackets by simon. The brackets are to insure that the sey is stable once it's together. We made these by using two pieces of softwood roughly the same length (doesnt matter is they arent the same length, wood can be cut once put together) Two people held them in place, making sure they were flush while the other person screwed them together at about one to two feet apart.</span>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-67233652180853748552011-05-08T14:35:00.000+01:002011-05-08T14:43:17.349+01:00Foam<div>Over Easter it was my job to get foam.</div><br /><div>I managed to get 4 large sheets for free.</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>All the foam is Fire retardent:</div><br /><div></div><br /><div>FOAM FROM: Mead Foam Ltd</div><br /><br /><br /><div><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5604339182903561506" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 226px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7p-Wv6pbzSSlNb_kH_AgfG0dAWWbKgq5ujt5sjdzz0kzf32r_kyKXh7v2zd8FTDj84tFBPyYIkzgaUjNnyfSNNdkLGaDOJKbapfJRpWIQ8hJjz0xSqVRXZm_MGY3vY0wapZHnLKVuggM/s320/img005.jpg" border="0" /></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-5577530969328845132011-05-08T12:02:00.000+01:002011-05-08T12:25:27.697+01:00Flat Building- Tuesday 5th April<span style="font-family:courier new;">After a demonstartion from Henry Jones on the number of 'flats' that are needed for our set and how to build and put together 'flats', we were able to start making.</span><br /><span style="font-family:courier new;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:courier new;">For each 8 by 4 foot flat, 2x8 foot pieces of wood and 5x4 foot (minus 2 times the width of the wood) were needed.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">on the 8 foot pieces of wood we marked 2 foot all the way along using a tape measure and pencil, to ensure the lines were straight we used a square. On each of the 8 foot pieces of wood we marked the width of 2 pieces of wood at either end, using a power drill we drilled 2 holes at each end. This was done to prevent the wood from spliting when the screws were inserted. Starting with the marked end of the 8 foot, we used the drill to screw on a 4 foot piece of wood, this was repeated at every 2 foot mark. Repeat this process for the other side starting at the same end as before.</span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">When the frames were finished PVA was spread over one side of the frame, then a 4 foot by 8 foot piece of plywood skin was put on top. going form one cornor we made sure the skin ws flush with the frame. By making sure one corner is flush the rest can be manipulated into place. We used an electric nail gun to secure the plywood skin to the frame, We drew line's on the plywood were the frames across the centre were and used the nail gun across the lines ensuring the plywood was secure to the frame. </span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span><br /><span style="font-family:Courier New;">For any over hang of the plywood skin we used a router, to make sure the plywood was flush with the frame. This was repeated for every frame. This was also repeated for headers and footers.</span>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-2921966096875123692011-04-10T14:48:00.000+01:002011-04-10T14:58:33.219+01:00Flats Needed<span style="font-family:courier new;">The number of flats needed (feet)</span> <br /><ul><br /><li><span style="font-family:courier new;">17 - 4 x 8'</span></li><br /><li><span style="font-family:Courier New;">1 - 3 x 8'</span></li><br /><li><span style="font-family:Courier New;">1 - 3.1/2 x 8'</span></li><br /><li><span style="font-family:Courier New;">1 - 1.1/2 x 8'</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Footers:</span></p><br /><ul><br /><li><span style="font-family:Courier New;">3 - 3 x 3'</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Headers:</span></p><br /><ul><br /><li><span style="font-family:Courier New;">2 - 4 x 1.1/2'</span></li></ul><br /><p><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Headers and Footers for doors and windows.</span></p>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-67069347489571370612011-04-09T15:12:00.000+01:002011-04-09T15:14:22.409+01:00Coloured Design For Study/Death Room<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4RsjfEI5bWLXrlkU7Hll2-zN4kqu0c91wOKW5QDiODsa1AbJpZmwLTip5cEfcnQREbmT6FySQVEqQWfiH_fyDBjBDKX8yTDihAsMqxQHt7uby-dqunRL_KkXaRwb9ebA0G0rRHDt7dYw/s1600/DSCF0510.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593586860707756466" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4RsjfEI5bWLXrlkU7Hll2-zN4kqu0c91wOKW5QDiODsa1AbJpZmwLTip5cEfcnQREbmT6FySQVEqQWfiH_fyDBjBDKX8yTDihAsMqxQHt7uby-dqunRL_KkXaRwb9ebA0G0rRHDt7dYw/s320/DSCF0510.JPG" border="0" /></a> <br /><div></div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-27895631863570194982011-04-09T14:16:00.000+01:002011-04-09T14:20:00.096+01:00Study/Death Room- Drawing<div align="center"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHxsShIuJkqMUHMsOBiqjwHeBRs5nOyr4bTmI9WaWJPetM7ZP7rZjltblNKeNZsNxYrohqyJzlDBcDqeCQ8zLwCFzzwnRg0Fxh-eGNZvXiWJI8QI12f5DuYJUkJ9xSsIOYEbkaf2ji7Y/s1600/DSCF0499.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5593572364002594658" style="DISPLAY: block; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 240px; TEXT-ALIGN: center" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbHxsShIuJkqMUHMsOBiqjwHeBRs5nOyr4bTmI9WaWJPetM7ZP7rZjltblNKeNZsNxYrohqyJzlDBcDqeCQ8zLwCFzzwnRg0Fxh-eGNZvXiWJI8QI12f5DuYJUkJ9xSsIOYEbkaf2ji7Y/s320/DSCF0499.JPG" border="0" /></a> <span style="font-family:Courier New;">This is my design of how I saw the room when I was reading the book. </span></div><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Next I shall add colour to the drawing.</span> </div>vickyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16453785208198239542noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5775668776533355861.post-18065445452143387512011-04-08T20:17:00.000+01:002011-04-08T20:22:37.693+01:00<span style="font-family:Courier New;"></span><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Courier New;">At the group meeting on monday, it was decided who will be making what to go in each room.</span></div><br /><div align="center"><span style="font-family:Courier New;">Each person was given 2 items to build/create,and we were put into pairs to create these items.
